We had breakfast at 8:30, it was the usual Full English with tea. Today the weather was a lot better and the walk would be to Hawes around 11 miles. The walk for the most part followed the river Ure.
We made good time the first few hours and stopped for a coffee at Askrig around midday. This is where the series All Creatures Great and Small with James Herriot was based.
This area has no mobile signal so I was a little concerned about staying on the right track. I knew that in general we just had to follow the river Ure

We set off again and were making good time but I had no mobile signal for the paths. After about an hour of walking and keeping the river in mind we came to a halt as our way was blocked by one of the many Yorkshire walls. It was clear that we had taken a wrong turn so had to retrace our steps.

After wasting an hour time trying to find the right path I had a signal for a minute and could see where we should be. It is a good lesson learnt, I need to be better prepared and carry compass and map.
It wasn’t too long before we arrived at Hawes and then the Fountain Hotel where we were stopping for the night.
A good meal and drink later was appreciated. “Une special dedicace pour Peter”
